I've been journaling since I was a child. It was in 2019 that I began transforming my stream of consciousness writing into vignettes that could be weaved together into a memoir. On September 7, 2021, my debut memoir, The Shayṭān Bride: A Bangladeshi Canadian Memoir of Desire and Faith will be out in the world!

This a nonlinear, coming-of-age literary memoir that explores my experiences as a young girl emigrating from Dhaka, Bangladesh to Thunder Bay, Ontario and then Toronto. It captures a challenging ordeal I faced at the age of nineteen which prompted me to think more deeply about the intersections between gender, religion, faith/spirituality, culture, and race. The experiences I have shared in my memoir, including my own personal growth work, have inspired and inform the work I do with clients as a therapist.
